If you are craving more sugar due to Holiday treats here is a no sugar option. I revised a recipe for Morroccan date balls. The original recipe had many more ingredients including almonds and olives. I have taken these to several events.
- 1/4 cup finely chopped shelled pistachios I used food processor
- 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts I used food processor
- 10 moist pitted dates, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 tablespoon honey
Mix the walnuts, ginger and nutmeg in a bowl then add the chopped dates. Add the honey and mix well. Roll into small balls (I used olive oil on my hands as mixture sticks). Roll the balls in the ground pistachios. Makes 10 to 12 date balls.
