Stir Fry Tips

I’m always looking for ways to eat less processed foods and more tasty vegetables.  Stir frying is a good way to enjoy a flavorful vegetable oriented dish.

  • When chopping vegetables for one dish, make a double batch.  Store the leftovers in an air tight container.  The next day half the work is done for an easy stir fry dish.  Just add some protein and you have a quick meal.
  • Chop all your vegetables to about the same size.  Pictured above the carrots, broccoli and cauliflower all cooked at the same rate.
  • For extra flavor use sesame oil.  The smoke point (temperature at which heated fat or oil starts to break down and burn, giving an unpleasant taste) is 410°F for sesame oil.  Light oil is recommended for deep-frying.  Dark sesame oil is better for stir-frying and dipping sauces, neither are good for baking.
