Flavored water

I gave up soft drinks many years ago.  Last year I took a class at Westwood Nature center on making natural teas or tisanes.  A tisane is an infusion (as of dried herbs) used as a beverage or for medicinal effects.  Infusing water with fruits and herbs is very popular now and a great way to have a refreshing summer drink.  You don’t need a fancy infusion device.  We are all used to seeing lemon and lime added to water.  I have added ginger, mint, and cucumber to pitcher of water.  A recent recipe called for canned pineapple and I added the leftover juice to water, very refreshing.  The Food Network had some combinations I can’t wait to try.  For example Pineapple-Mint-Ginger with pineapple chunks and Apple-Cinnamon with apple slices and cinnamon sticks.  I am not so sure about their suggestion for Tomato-Basil water with chunks of tomato basil.  Like drinking a caprese salad, but if it sounds good to you try it.  Get creative with some combinations and let me know what you like.
