June 2015 – Trust GO

One of the best lessons I had in trust occurred on a vacation.  I was teaching fitness at a resort that had free trapeze lessons.  I am not a risk taker, but I like free and we had a safety harness and net below.  Even with that, I had no idea how terrified I would be.  It was one of the biggest adrenaline rushes I have ever experienced.  When the guide yelled GO, I was to let go and jump to another trapeze.  On my first try, when the guide yelled GO I did not believe the trapeze would be there for me to catch.  It appeared to be way, way too far away for me reach.  I did not GO.  To get out of the first trapeze ended up doing a belly flop on to the net below. I had a few rope burns to show for my lack of trust.  The next day when the guide said GO I went.  I flew through air for a second or two and the second trapeze was magically in my hands.  I laced my knees in it and I did a somersault and landed correctly on my back in the net.

Often in life we just have to GO and have supreme trust.  We have to trust another trapeze will be be there for us to grab.  Maybe it is trusting that after a loss we will find another love or another job.  We might have to trust that our body will heal.  We might have to trust in our own ability to make the jump.

When I am afraid to move forward, I think of the trapeze.  The net represents my support system in family, friends and groups.  We all have a tribe.  The harness for me is my support from the Project Manager in the sky.  Most of us have at some time felt that support from the Universe call on it again when you need it.

Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.
